On August 12, the entire concept of roasting will lose every shred of original meaning and intention during Comedy Central’s roast of Flavor Flav. Riddle me this: how can anyone successfully mock a human being with zero self-consciousness? How they bring new hilarities to light about someone who wears his batcrap-ridiculousness on a five pound timepiece? The joke will be on every single roaster (except Patton Oswalt, who rightfully should attend every roast available, even those of company CEOs), in whom no one would ever trust to disperse witticisms on less obvious targets.
The only easier target would be Carrot Top, but he’ll be too busy doing the actual roasting. There is nothing else to say about this. Carrot Top jokes are too boring even for this website. Getting "served" by Carrot Top is like wearing your shirt backwards to grade school one day and a getting a grimy finger pointed at you by the kid who chews rubber erasers.
The event is hosted by rapper-comedian Katt Williams. Others involved (several of whom barely have anything to do with Flav’s life, contrary to the roasting tradition of being surrounded by friends and family) include Greg Giraldo, Ice-T, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Lampanelli and Bridgett Neilsen. Tune in for a genuinely surreal experience, much like the moment on VH1’s Surreal Life (where Flav got his re-start) when Vanilla Ice confessed serious man-love for Eric Estrada.
