Description: Perhaps it's the beautiful strings throughout, the almost-whispered vocals or the lines that seem to hang in the air long after they've been sung. Whatever it is, listening to the new Great Lake Swimmers album Lost Channels evokes a sense of intimacy for the listener rarely achieved outside of a small live performance. And when Great Lake Swimmers lead singer Tony Dekker stopped by Paste to deliver a solo performance at the Paste Studios, things got even more cozy. Dekker opted to let the band get some rest while touring in Atlanta, and played several songs from the new record, including "Pulling On A Line." While the album version features mandolin, electric guitar, organ and full percussion, Dekker seems to offer a whole new song when reduced to an acoustic guitar. Either way, we think its a winner.
