Most fans of the stuff would tell you that piece of good raw tuna surrounded by sticky rice and wrapped in nori is a delicious sushi standard. But often, the temptation to “dress-up” simple fair results in a deep-fried, mayo-laden, soy sauce-soaked, wasabi-encrusted catastrophe. The same thing happens to simple songs all the time. A lovely ballad gets auto-tuned, overdubbed and practically orchestrated, leaving the song itself song completely overpowered by its own ornamentation. British singer songwriter Bobby Long resists such temptation, and keeps his songs to his own voice and his own guitar.
