Description:Seattle-based singer/songwriter Damien Jurado made a name for himself for both his unique writing and use of old recordings, but for his session at Paste, Damien decided to keep things simple. On his most recent release Caught In the Trees, Jurado made use of more fellow musicians than in previous albums, creating a fuller sound than some of his earlier work. But for his session at Paste, Jurado stuck to a microphone and a guitar. The resulting simplicity of the performance made his clever, and often heart-breaking lyrics all the more arresting. On “Eastlake,” Jurado’s acoustic guitar seems to make a perfect companion to an otherwise lonely song.
