Description:Sufjan Stevens probably thought his album would forever hold the title of “best highly introspective Michigan-themed record.” However Frontier Ruckus has at very least challenged the title with their upcoming album Deadmalls and Nightfalls. Lead singer Matthew Millia’s fragile and meandering vocals calls to mind the feeling of a Midwestern winter, while the sounds of backing vocals from David Jones and singing saw played by Zachary Nichols feels a bit like stepping inside where it’s warm. Like many things in life, Frontier Ruckus is best enjoyed live and in person. Go see them play next time the band is in town, and make sure to request “Springterror.” — Kevin Keller
