Description:During his visit to the Paste studio, Greg Laswell mentioned a friend had recently called him “the happiest sad person he had ever met.”

While the comment may have been in jest, it seems a fitting description of his music, which seems to possess similar contradictions. Laswell’s music is often lyrically dense, while impossibly catchy. And with lines like “what a day to be alive; what a day to realize I’m not dead” this week’s MP3 might be “the saddest happy song you’ve ever heard.”
