Description:If there is one word to describe Nathan Beaver, it is “charming.” While the descriptor certainly fits for the impossibly polite Southern songwriter, it is even more fitting for his music. Beaver’s brand of acoustic pop straddles a number of musical boundaries with an effortlessness that his songs an enormously broad appeal. His sound is at times southern, but never country and his acoustic sound often just skirts the singer songwriter category. While Beaver sometimes plays with a full band, he stopped by the Paste offices with only one fellow musician, guitar player John Tuggle. The two played a few songs from Beaver’s recently released record, Universal You, including the single “Clever.” — Kevin Keller
