A one-time Athens, Ga. resident and with a year or two of college under his belt, singer/songwriter Nathan Beaver devotes himself full-time to recording music. Universal You is his second studio album, a mix of pleasant guitar-driven fare that features his obviously Nashville-influenced voice. “Piecing Together The World” opens the album with a slow-dance country ballad driven by the steady thrum of the bass; first single “Clever” interposes wistful strings in the background with steady guitar work and solid lyrics, and “Corner of Your Smile,” which features finger-picked guitar melodies and Beaver’s lone voice, is stunning in its simplicity. — Whitney Baker
