Description:The Wooden Birds’ debut album is just as memorable for the way it “feels” as it is for the way it sounds. Throughout the record, the band’s lead singer Andrew Kenny rarely sings above a whisper, which complements the mostly-hushed instruments that accompany him. Kenny explained that much of the intimate sound came from recording in small rooms, with microphones placed very close to the singers and instruments. When The Wooden Birds stopped by Paste, their sound seemed to fit perfectly in the cozy blue studio where visiting bands record. And by the time the band got around to playing their song “Seven Seventeen,” they sounded like they were home.
