Description:Based in Asheville, N.C., Toubab Krewe blends the sounds of traditional West African music with more familiar elements of jazz and Southern rock. Electric guitar and bass hum alongside ancient instruments like the kora (a large harp-lute) and the gita (a large bowl-shaped drum). While novelty may be the initial appeal for many new listeners, the band’s solid musicianship is what kept us listening. In their featured song, “Autorail,” listen for the dueling guitar and kora. We dare you not to groove!
