No Age, Deacon, Polvo, High Places Play F Yeah Fest

Pitchfork: Today August 6, 2008 7:00 AM

F Yeah! The fifth ever F Yeah Fest-- which, in previous years, fucking said what it meant-- is comin' atcha, Los Angeles! The abbreviated cursing will meet the estimable rocking of some of the indie world's wildest acts August 30-31.

Things kick off August 30 at the Echo, Echoplex, and Jensen Rec Center with performances from No Age, Matt & Kim, High Places, Glass Candy, Fucked Up, Abe Vigoda, Mika Miko, Monotonix, Ladyhawk, Crystal Antlers, Trans Am, David Vandervelde, Mannequin Men, Negative Approach, Two Gallants, Past Lives, and many more. Naturally, there will also be a taco eating contest.

Things get even weirder the following day, which kicks off with a scavenger hunt in Echo Park. The winner of said quest will receive $2,500 in prizes, $500 in cash, and "the largest bottle of whiskey known to man." Should the victor not be of legal age to consume such a tall drink of Gentleman Jack, a "keg of crystal clear Pepsi" shall be your reward. Anyone know where I can get me some of that?

That night, there's a show at Echoplex with Polvo, Trans Am, and the Drones that's not to be missed; unless, of course, the Smell with with Final Fight, Hit Me Back, Broken Needle, and a "special guest headliner." Man, I hope it's New No Age!

Oh oh oh, and also that night (August 31), there's a Dan Deacon gig at a secret locale not to be announced until the day of the show. If you wanna sweat it out with Danny and co, you'll wanna sign up for the F Yeah mailing list on the website. Do not mark as spam! F yeah!
