Bright Eyes, Iron & Wine Offer Charity Xmas Ornaments

Pitchfork: Today December 2, 2008 4:10 PM

'Tis the season for giving and hall-decking and so forth, and in the spirit of both, Oregon's Glass Casters Union is back with another round of indie rock-themed charity ornaments.

Last year, the GCU offered up decorations designed by the likes of Wolf Parade, Band of Horses, Of Montreal, Deerhunter, and, for those bad-ass little boys and girls, Xiu Xiu and Sunn O))). In the '08, Bright Eyes, the Thermals, and Built to Spill are once again primed to get tangled in the tinsel, where they'll be joined by the Black Lips and Iron & Wine.

The limited-edition, recycled glass ornaments, etched with the band's designs and filled with silver or gold color fill, beat the pants off Snoopy in a Santa hat. What's more, absolutely all proceeds go to help homeless and low-income families in Eugene, Oregon. The ornaments are on sale on eBay right this instant, via that "Buy It Now" thing, and the prices are quite reasonable, if I do say so myself.

Okay, none of 'em are actually holiday-themed, but it's for a good cause, so let's not grinch this thing up.
