Oh! From The Girls compilation raises $ for women

New recordings from Tori Amos and Macy Gray will join previously released material from Erin McKeown, Kathleen Edwards, Aimee Mann and 10 other female artists on the upcoming Oh! From the Girls compilation. A portion of proceeds from the album, out Jan. 13 on Nettwerk America, will go to Oxygen Media's "Build Your Own Business" program, which helps provide funding and equipment for women starting their own businesses. The live cuts—Amos’ “Cornflake Girl” and Gray’s cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together”—were recorded at Oxygen Custom Concerts, which let fans vote in advance for songs they want artists to perform. Sarah McLachlan and Avril Lavigne, who also appear on the compilation, participated Tuesday in a Custom Concert that will air on the Oxygen Network Nov. 9.
