Big Night for Lord of the Rings

The 76th annual Academy Awards turned out to be a big night for Return of the King, the final installment in the acclaimed Lord of the Rings trilogy. The film swept the awards, winning all 11 Oscars it was nominated for and tying an academy record for most awards (Titanic and Ben Hur also have 11).

There was also some fine music at the show last night—Sting, Alison Krauss, T Bone Burnett and Elvis Costello performing songs from Cold Mountain, a live rendition of the jazzy "Belleville Rendez-vous" from the animated film, Triplets of Belleville, and Oscar winner for "Music (original song)" Annie Lennox's "Into the West" from Lord of the Rings.
