Mindy Smith Helps Raise Money For Cancer Research

When Mindy Smith hits the road for her 30-city U.S. tour this October, the award-winning singer/songwriter will offer a special tour T-shirt with proceeds benefiting research and treatment center City of Hope, whose programs help combat cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

In addition, online retailer Amazon will contribute a percentage of the sales from Smith's 2004 debut album, One Moment More, to City of Hope for the duration of the tour. And Ticketmaster will be auctioning a package to each of the tour markets that includes two tickets, and an autographed CD and T-shirt.

One Moment More is dedicated to her mother, who Smith credits as her musical mentor. Smith wrote the album’s title track as a way of coping with her mother’s death from breast cancer in 1991.

City of Hope has agreed to place a Mindy Smith postcard in goodie bags at six of its Walks for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer in October, including walks in Phoenix, Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale. For more information on this event, visit www.walkforhope.org.
