Cast Iron Filter is gearing up to release a new concept album, Falls of Rough. Due out Jan. 25, 2005, the album will be produced and engineered by the band’s long-standing partner, Mark Williams, at Charlotte's Reflection Studio (home of R.E.M.’s Murmur and Chronic Town, as well as Hootie & The Blowfish and Southern Culture on the Skids). Falls of Rough will be the band's first record of new material since 2001’s This Ugly Town.
On this concept album, lead singer/acoustic guitarist Dustin Edge spins yarns of a small, adversity-soaked town (Falls of Rough) in Western Kentucky during the Great Depression/World War II era. The town's mayor, sheriff, bartender, rebel and pastor, among others, play a significant role in Edge's libretto. And three new instrumentals will round out the album.
In support of Falls of Rough, Cast Iron Filter will tour throughout the remainder of October and November, collecting live tracks from each show and combining them with new material on a release scheduled for Spring 2005.
