The Roots to Perform at We the Planet Festival

The Roots, Michelle Shocked, Third Eye Blind, Mickey Hart, The Coup and others still to be confirmed will perform at this year’s second annual We the Planet Music and Activism Festival at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, Calif. The event will take place on Nov. 13 and will be organized by Julia Butterfly Hill’s non-profit organization, Circle of Life, which seeks to activate people through education, inspiration and connection to live in a way that honors the diversity and interdependence of all life.

This year’s festival grounds will highlight non-profit organizations that demonstrate strong environmental and social ethics in their business practices. During the daytime, We the Planet Festival will provide a series of workshops on “Pushing the Boundaries for a New World.” Workshop topics will include: Music Art & Activism; Civil Disobedience and Direct Action; Beyond Voting; and Independent Media.

Workshops are from 2:00PM to 6:00 p.m.. Doors for the music extravaganza open at 6:00 p.m., with the first musical guest hitting the stage at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Oct. 10 at 10:00 a.m. and are $22 in advance and $30 at the door. Ticket price includes free admission to all daytime activities and workshops.
