KOCH Records to Release Tribute to NYC Punk Scene

KOCH Records will release New York Rocks, a 14-track compilation featuring legendary artists from the New York punk scene. The compilation will be released Jan. 25, 2005.

Fed up with the bloated sounds and the 8-minute guitar solos of the era's arena-rock bands, groups like The Ramones, Blondie and The Heartbreakers wrote short, fast songs influenced by '60s garage music mixed with The Velvet Underground and The Stooges. A great deal of the bands' popularity came from their live performances at classic New York venues like Max's Kansas City, the Mercer Arts Center and, most famously, CBGB.

New York Rocks Track Listing:

1. “Rock & Roll” - The Velvet Underground
2. “Blitzkrieg Bop” - The Ramones
3. “Ask The Angels” - Patti Smith
4. “(I Live For) Cars and Girls” - The Dictators
5. “See No Evil” – Television
6. “X Offender” – Blondie
7. “Let Me Dream If I Want To” - Mink DeVille
8. “Born To Lose” - The Heartbreakers
9. “Blank Generation” – Richard Hell and The Voidoids
10. “You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory” - Johnny Thunders
