Theresa Andersson Sings Theme Song For New Film

Lions Gates Films’ A Love Song For Bobby Long, starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson, will hit theaters nationwide Jan. 16, 2005. The soundtrack (to be released Jan. 11 on Hyena Records) features the film's theme, "Lorraine's Song," The tune was written by New Orleans soulman Grayson Capps (who wrote and performed six of the album's songs) and features the vocals of Big Easy songbird Theresa Andersson.

A Love Song for Bobby Long is the feature film directorial debut of Shainee Gabel, who wrote the screenplay based on Ronald Everett Capps' soon-to-be-published novel, Off Magazine Street. Everett Capps' son is Grayson, who handed over his father's unpublished novel to Shainee in 1997. During a brief conversation between the two, Shainee had divulged her interest in directing a film based in New Orleans. Seven years later, Shainee came back to Grayson to ask for his help with the film's soundtrack.

"A Love Song for Bobby Long pays homage to the invisible people," says Grayson. "The intention is that there's beauty everywhere - you just have to open your eyes. It's easy to tell a story like that in New Orleans."

A slightly different version of "Lorraine's Song" appears as a bonus track on Theresa Andersson's spring 2004 release, Shine.
