Paste Shorts Fest Calls for Entries

Paste Media Group is currently accepting submissions for Paste Short Fest. If your work is selected, you are eligible to:

• Earn cash
• Have your short included on the DVD Sampler in Paste’s year-end film Issue
• Screen your short in competition at Paste Shorts Fest 2005 (music and short films)

Reach an even bigger audience than at the largest international film festivals, including a sizeable industry comp list.

Call for Entries: March 1, 2005 – August 15, 2005.

Length of film: No more than 49 minutes, including all credits.

Categories: Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Animation, Music Video, Experimental, Children/Family, Flash/Shockwave. We will also recognize best student and foreign-language short films, as well as panel and audience best of festival awards.

Deadlines & Costs:
$10 off with valid student ID
$5 off for Without A Box members applying through WAB
All deadlines are postmark deadlines for form and media.
Early entry: June July 15, 2005, $35
Standard: August 1, 2005, $45
Late: August 15, 2005, $50
WAB Extended: August 20, 2005: $75 (Submit through WAB and save $15 on the WAB Extended deadline)

Cost: $35 early entry, $45 standard entry; $10 off with valid student ID

Dates: Festival October 14-15, 2005; DVD sampler in December 2005 / January 2006 issue; Retail product in early 2006

• Screen your short in competition at Paste Shorts Fest 2005 (music and short films)
• Place your short on the Paste Shorts retail compilation

Film Submission Format: DVD (formatting must include Region 1), video (NTSC VHS only) or CD-ROM (for Flash/Shockwave entries).

Multiple Entries: Each entered work must be accompanied by its own entry form and by a separate tape, DVD or CD (no compilations, please). You may use a single check or money order to cover entry fees for works that you submit at the same time.

Selection: All submitted works will be judged by the Festival Committee. The Festival Committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project. Works will be categorized at the sole discretion of the Festival Committee.

If Selected: Filmmakers whose works are selected grant Paste Media Group and related entities the rights to use footage, stills, titles and information from the film for promotional purposes. This is in addition to all rights indicated in the submission form and master use agreement. We may also ask filmmakers to provide additional copies of the selected work.

Submission includes festival competition and screening and inclusion on the Paste DVD Sampler, if selected. Optional agreements for the retail compilation will be shared with those invited. Application fees are non-refundable.

Legal: By submitting to Paste Media Group (Paste) you warrant, as sole and exclusive owner(s) of all legal right and title thereto that you have absolute authority to submit the entry to Paste. You will indemnify and hold harmless Paste, its judges, its sponsors and partners, individually and collectively, from and against all claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses including legal expenses arising out of or in connection with any and all claims, including third party claims, based on work submitted to Paste. If your work is selected, you expressly grant Paste the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display any and all publicity materials related to the work, including but not limited to stills, press releases, bios, and trailers, in whole or in part, without limitation to territory, and/or to incorporate said publicity materials in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.

Acceptance of Regulations: By signing the entry form for the Paste Shorts Fest, the participant accepts, without reservation, the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document.
