This spring, The String Cheese Incident and its fans are heading west to the ski slopes. SCI's upcoming tour, Spring Ski Incidents, will take place in ski towns across America's west, including outdoor afternoon shows at the base of the slopes in Park City, Utah and Whistler, British Columbia. The spring tour will begin with three nights at Denver's Fillmore Auditorium and will feature special guests—Dr. John, Perry Ferrell (aka DJ Peretz), Jason Carter and Ronnie and Rob McCoury. After a day of rest, the band will head westward, armed with boards and instruments, to play some of its favorite ski mountains.
The tour will include a two day stop in Park City, Utah where, after a full day tackling Utah's powder, SCI will play a long afternoon set at The Canyons at the base of the mountain each day. The tour will wrap up in British Columbia, including another afternoon show, this time at the base of Whistler & Blackcomb Mountain to kick off the 10th anniversary of the annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboarding Festival - North America's largest snowsport and music event.
The String Cheese Incident is currently wrapping up studio time with producer Malcom Burn (Bob Dylan, Chris Whitley, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois). Malcom and the band began recording SCI's fifth studio album in December at a private studio in the hills of the band’s hometown of Boulder, Colo. Look for the album to be released on its own record label, SCI Fidelity Records, in June 2005.
