Chip Taylor has released a series of downloadable mp3s titled Church of the Trainwreck via his website, www.trainwreckrecords.com/church.
This ‘church’ uses inspirational stories to encourage readers to better their lives. "The simple work suggested here does me a lot of good," said Taylor. "It just might do the same for you."
While driving toward New York City, Taylor listened to a preacher and a self-help guru on talk radio who challenged him to think about where he would like to see himself in five years. The then professional gambler picked up the phone, threw away his cigarettes, and put his "soul in motion." This is the story which kicks off the first installment of Church, whose prayer is "Please Oh Lord, help me get off my ass & get my soul in motion."
Taylor and fiddler/singer Carrie Rodriguez will release their new collaborative effort Red Dog Tracks on Back Porch Records May 24.
