Digital Musicworks International, Inc. (DMI)—the world’s first all-digital, full-service music label—and Paste have joined forces for a special edition of the publication’s June/July issue CD sampler.
This sampler will employ the first-ever industry use of new Weed-file technology within a traditional sampler format to allow customers free downloads of DMI artists Dwight Tilley, redlightmusic, and Lino.
“Digital Musicworks International is pleased to be the first to use Weed files to distribute music tracks on the Paste Sampler,” said DMI CEO Mitchell Koulouris. “With this disc, we’re able to generate revenue for the artist while introducing new music to a very wide audience with the Paste readership.” “We’re very happy to be able to offer nine Weed tracks in the space of two regular music tracks on the Paste Sampler CD,” said Paste Publisher Nick Purdy. “We are thrilled to be a part of this new paradigm of music sharing.”
Weed is a legal digital download service that respects artist’s rights and encourages file sharing. The special enhanced disc, included as a bonus with each copy of Paste issue 16, which is on newsstands now.
