Blogger posts indie covers

Kentucky mp3 blogger Matt Jordan has received an overwhelming response to yesterday’s post called “Now That’s What I Call Indie Covers! Volume 1” on his blog, You Ain’t No Picasso. Jordan posted 17 indie covers of well-known pop songs, including Sufjan Stevens covering REM’s “This One Goes Out To The One I Love” and Ben Gibbard covering Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

“Without a doubt, my favorite cover has to be The Mountain Goat's version of the classic Ace of Base hit 'The Sign,'” Jordan told Paste. “Not because it's musically perfect or different, but rather because they seem genuinely excited to be performing it—no hint of sarcasm or kitsch, but just appreciation of a good pop gem.”
