Soul pioneer Bill Moss has died at the age of 69. His work as a producer and record entrepreneur over the years gained him a wide audience and much critical acclaim within soul and R&B communities.
The master tapes from Moss’s Capsoul label were destroyed in a flood, and the few vinyl copies that remained intact were remastered by The Numero Group and released as Eccentric Soul: The Capsoul Label in 2004.
Moss stood in support of civil rights with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Ralph Bunch in the '60s, and twice ran for the office of Mayor in Columbus, Ohio. He had a Sunday afternoon gospel radio show called “Straight Talk.” Moss was a devoted family man and community servant.
