A Tribute To The Boss

Bruce Springsteen was honored at the launch of the New York Guitar Festival this week.

A free gala concert, held Jan. 14 under the World Financial Center Winter Garden's glass atrium, paid tribute to The Boss’ 1982 album, Nebraska. Entitled The Nebraska Project, this 25th anniversary celebration featured a distinctive roster of singer/songwriters, bands and instrumentalists who performed their own personalized renditions of songs from the record.

The Boss himself showed up early and watched the entire concert from the audience before joining the artists onstage for an encore of Woody Guthrie's "Oklahoma Hills."

The free gala event attracted the largest concert crowd the Financial Center Winter Garden has ever hosted. The New York Guitar Festival continues through Feb. 8 in clubs and theatres throughout the city. Now in its sixth year, the festival boasts over 20 performances by some 60 exceptional guitarists of jazz, classical, rock, pop, traditional and avant-garde styles.
