Despite his death in 1973, country-rock icon Gram Parsons is an invisible force in the music industry, influencing both long-established musicians like Emmylou Harris and also relative newcomers like Bright Eyes.
On Jan. 20, Harmony Gallery in Los Angeles will host an exhibit that pays tribute to the ever-present ghost of Parsons. Grievous Angel: An Intimate View of Gram Parsons is packed with enough Parsons for even the most devoted fan: acoustic performances, readings from 2005 biography Grievous Angel: An Intimate Biography of Gram Parsons by author Jessica Hundley, a slide show and photographs for sale by Jim McCrary, Tom Wilkes, Kim Gottlieb-Walker, Andee Cohen Nathanson and Janeen Lund. If this diverse dive into Parsons life isn’t personal enough for you, his daughter Polly Parsons will also be present to dust off old skeletons.
The opening night ceremonies run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free, and the exhibition will continue through February.
