The University of Georgia in Athens launched its new music-business certificate program this semester, with guest lecturer Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers opening the series.

This long-awaited program has been a cooperative effort from the Terry College of Business and the Hodgson School of Music, and will feature numerous seminars and lectures from musicians like Hood and other industry notables. The 40-Watt Club's booking agent, R.E.M's lawyer and Widespread Panic's manager are also scheduled to speak.
