Benefit Concert Planned For Love’s Arthur Lee

Benefit Concert Planned For Love’s Arthur Lee

A group of musicians will perform a benefit concert for rock legend Arthur Lee at New York's Beacon Theater on June 23. The Love frontman was diagnosed last February with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), and has no medical insurance. Lee may soon have to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

The benefit, We’re Doing It For Love, will attempt to raise money to cover Lee’s $100,000 in medical expenses.

Produced by New York concert promoter Steve Weitzman of SW Productions, along with Lee’s manager Mark Linn, the benefit already has an all-star roster, including Robert Plant, Ian Hunter, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, David Johansen, Yo La Tengo, Garland Jeffreys and more. The artists will perform a combination of Lee’s songs as well as their own.

Those who are unable to attend the benefit, but would like to make a monetary donation can do so at Lee's website thelovesociety.com.
