Paste presents its 2nd Annual Paste Rock āNā Reel Festival beginning Friday September 15th and running through Sunday September 24th at various venues in Atlanta, Ga. The independent music and film festival consists of 10 days of concerts and movie screenings from various critically acclaimed artists and filmmakers, a short film competition and a handful of parties in venues throughout the Atlanta area (home to Paste headquarters).
Among the 50+ acts performing are Sufjan Stevens, The Wrens, Jose Gonzalez, Band of Horses, Beirut, The French Kicks, Modern Skirts, Ollabelle, Jim White, Peelander-Z and Supersystem. Each episode includes exclusive interviews, live performances, and full tracks of music from festival artists.
In addition to 10 days of live music, Paste hosts its short film competition online, sponsored by Spout ( spout.com ) and DivX Stage6 ( stage6.divx.com ). Filmmakers will compete for $4,000 in cash prizes, as well as equipment and software. Selected short films and music videos will be shown in 4 rounds of competition from September 15th - October 15th, 2006, with 10 short films and 10 music videos unveiled each week.
Viewers will vote for the finalists ( pastemagazine.com/action/article?article_id=3303 )and choose the winners in the final round of voting from October 16 - 27th. Winners will be announced by Paste on October 31st.
The online short film competition marks the launch of Paste's new partnership with DivX Stage6 ( stage6.divx.com ). All video content will be available for viewing and download in the high-quality DivX format. Videos downloaded on DivX Stage6 are compatible with over 1,800 models of DivX Certified DVD players, portable media players and other consumer electronic devices from major manufacturers.
