Stephin Merritt Makes Morning Show Appearance

On the heels of the October 10th release of The Gothic Archies’ The Tragic Treasuries: Songs from A Series of Unfortunate Events, frontman Stephin Merritt recently appeared on the morning show of Atlanta’s Fox News affiliate, Fox5’s Good Day Atlanta. Merritt, perhaps better known for his work with The Magnetic Fields and The 6ths, performed a selection from the album—but, as Pitchfork duly noted, only after being awkwardly chatted up by the show’s host.

Merritt was tagged to compose and record the pseudo-soundtrack of the popular Lemony Snicket book series by the elusive Snicket himself, who apparently played accordion on The Magnetic Fields’ epic 69 Love Songs.

Bask in the alternate awkwardness and awesomeness of Merritt’s appearance via the video on Fox 5's website, and see his official website for more information about the album and The Gothic Archies.
