Tony Furtado to Release New Album in January 2007

On the heels of his critically acclaimed 2004 release, west coast Americana rocker Tony Furtado will release his sophomore singer-songwriter effort, Thirteen, in January 2007. After making a name for himself as an accomplished banjo/slide-guitar player, Furtado followed a string of eight instrumental albums with These Chains in 2004, which garnered immense critical praise for his rootsy vocal delivery as well as his already-proven ax-wielding skill.

Recorded during the summer 2005 at Tuscon, Ariz. recording space Wavelab Studios, Thirteen was produced by Craig Schumacher, whose production credits include Neko Case, Calexico, and Iron & Wine (all artists that also frequent Wavelab). Also making appearances on the album are keyboardist Jim Dickinson (Big Star, the Replacements), drummer Winston Watson (Giant Sand, Bob Dylan), and veteran Furtado bassist Dusty Wakeman (Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yokam).

Thirteen is scheduled for release on January 23rd, 2007. More information is available at http://www.tonyfurtado.com.
