Chuck Prophet Signs Book Deal

Little-known but extraordinarily talented songwriter Chuck Prophet, who recently parted with New West Records, has signed a deal with Chronicle books, which will release his first book. Shoulda Stayed in School – Road Diaries from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Trenches will be released in the summer of 2008 and will feature anecdotes, advice and jokes, as well as photos and ephemera of Prophet and other musicians’ lives on the road.

“You can expect some seriously light-hearted shit, from tear stained roadmaps and missing lug nuts, to first class cabin shenanigans and champagne debauchery,” Prophet said in a statement. “Whether your pillow is a stinky tennis shoe in the back of a van or a chocolate topped down filled wonder in a five star hotel, road life has common surreal threads that transcend mere economics. We're all hobos, really. What will be interesting, are the unique worldviews and coping mechanisms of the artists involved. How one can go from city to city and maintain some sort of consistent sanity. The road brings out the best and worst in people, and I plan on going coast to coast."
