eMusic, IFC Join Forces For Independent Music

Independent music site eMusic, the world’s largest retailer of independent music which has sold more than 85 million tracks in the last three years, has announced a partnership with the Independent Film Channel (IFC). The two giants of the independent world have joined forces to create a program called “eMusic Dozens: The IFC Soundtrack,” which premiered October 30, 2006 on IFC.

The program aims to bring greater exposure to independent artists through a marriage of independent music with independent film. It will feature 12 short video segments which brings eMusic’s feature, the eMusic Dozen to life. Featuring artists from rising indie acts like The Hold Steady and Kaki King to better known musicians like Bjork and Spoon, the first episode of “eMusic Dozens: The IFC Soundtrack” is called “Independence” and introduces viewers to the world of independent music through video montages that feature concert footage, interviews, “found” video, etc. “Independence,” along with the program’s second installment, “A World of Sound,” will air on IFC and will also be distributed on eMusic’s website, through video sharing sites like YouTube, as well as through other eMusic marketing partners.
