Griffith Lights Up Road With Ruby's Torch

Singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith will tour the US and parts of the UK this winter, appearing with her longtime band the Blue Moon Orchestra on the tour’s first leg and with her new Torch band on the second.

Having firmly established herself as one of the preeminent female artists of the Americana-roots genre, Griffith took a somewhat different turn with her latest release, Ruby’s Torch. Including tunes penned by Tom Waits and Jimmy Webb, Torch is a collection of sultry love and un-love songs released by Rounder Records in November 2006.

"Many of these songs, particularly the Tom Waits tunes, have such deep personal resonance for me," Griffith said in a recent statement. "Recording them was a very emotional experience, and I hope to share that richness of feeling with the people who come to experience the music live. Each show promises to be as intimate as the music."
