24 Elliott Smith Recordings To Be Released
Fans of Elliott Smith may have resigned themselves to the fact that they’d never again hear new material from the mournful tunesmith after the posthumous release of 2004’s From a Basement on the Hill. But chin up! Kill Rock Stars has announced the release of New Moon, a two-disc collection of songs Smith recorded from 1995-1997, the same prolific writing/recording time during which he recorded his second and third albums, Elliott Smith and Either/Or. Both were released by Kill Rock Stars.
New Moon is set for release on CD and double LP on May 8th, 2007. A portion of proceeds from the album’s sales will go to Outside In, a Portland, Ore.-based group that provides services to homeless and low-income youth and young adults.
Smith died in Los Angeles on October 21st, 2003, of as-yet-undetermined causes.
New Moon’s complete tracklisting:
Angel In The Snow
Talking To Mary
Looking Over My Shoulder
All Cleaned Out
Miss Misery (early version)
Whatever (folk song in c)
Seen How Things Are Hard
Pretty Mary K (other version)
