Akron/Family is currently in the middle of a 22-city tour in support of its latest release, Meek Warrior. However, the album is just a hint of things to come later this summer.
While many would consider nine tracks enough new material to chew on for a while, the band is planning an official full-length in June.
Over-achievement is just Akron/Family's style. Since 2005, the band has played hundreds of shows and made several sporadic, inspiration-driven home recordings without plotting or planning. With seven of the tracks recorded in two days under the influence of sleep deprivation, Meek Warrior is just one of those many creative bonuses.
The band is currently finishing up the second half of the tour, and will make a U-turn at The EARL in Atlanta on Feb. 20 before heading back up the East Coast and then over to the Midwest.
