Less than one week after the February 27th release of their highly-anticipated LP Back Numbers, the husband-and-wife psych-folk duo of Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips—otherwise known as simply Dean & Britta-- will hit the road for a month of shows in the US and Canada.
Back Numbers is their first full-length recording for label Zoë/Rounder, but the two worked together previously on a number of musical endeavors. After meeting during the early 2000s when bassist Britta joined Luna, Dean’s band since 1995, the two recorded covers/duets album, L'Avventura, a number of EPs, and most recently collaborated on the soundtrack for Noah Baumbach’s 2004 film The Squid and the Whale.
“Billowing,” “swooning,” and “crooning” are just some of the adjectives being summoned to describe Back Numbers, which was produced by Tony Visconti, with whom Dean & Britta worked on L'Avventura.
