Warren Zevon may no longer sing about hairy-handed gents running amuck in Kent, but he is still releasing records.
The “Werewolves of London” singer’s son, Jordan, located 126 demos and outtakes after Zevon’s 2003 death; 16 of those songs comprise Preludes – Rare and Unreleased Recordings, to be released on May 1.
Preludes also includes a second disc featuring an interview between Zevon and KGSR-FM’s Jody Denberg.
A memoir entitled I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon will be released the same day. The book acts as a scrapbook of Zevon’s life and times, with stories by friends such as Jackson Browne, David Crosby and Lindsey Buckingham.
“I won’t know for sure how he would have felt about this release until I meet back up with him in the ‘great beyond,’” Jordan Zevon said in a statement. “I’ll either receive a proud, fatherly hug or a posthumous ass-kicking. Truth is, it'll probably be both.”
