Paste Honored At 2007 PLUG Awards

For the second year in a row, Paste has been named Magazine of the Year by PLUG Awards voters!

At the awards ceremony held Saturday, February 10th at Irving Plaza in New York City, host David Cross presided over a plethora of performers, including 12-foot puppets, marching bands, barbershop quartets—and, oh yeah, a few rock bands. 2007 PLUG Awards nominees Deerhoof, Silversun Pickups, El-P, and the Tokyo Police Club performed at the ceremony, along with Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks. Malkmus was given the 2007 PLUG Impact Award, celebrating his broad influence on independent music.

Music award winners include Band of Horses, who walked away with nods for Album of the Year and Americana Album of the Year for Everything All the Time, and Song of the Year for “Funeral”; Broken Social Scene, named Live Act of the Year; Arctic Monkeys (New Artist of the Year); and J Dilla, who was posthumously awarded Artist of the Year and Record Producer of the Year.

Although music was the main focus of the evening, a number of awards in the Media – General and Obsessive – categories were doled out. Along with Paste, media winners include Pitchfork (Music Website of the Year), BrooklynVegan (Music Blog of the Year), Seattle’s KEXP (College/Non Comm and Online Radio Station of the Year), and Wax Poetics (Zine of the Year).

All award winners were determined by the number of votes cast in their favor via the 2007 PLUG Awards website. A full list of all winners and nominees in the 2006 PLUG Awards can be found here.

Thanks to everyone who voted for Paste! (We love you more than David Cross, which is a whole lot!) Also, congratulations to all the other winners!
