Sarah Borges Signs to Sugar Hill Records

With a critically-praised debut album under her belt and some increasingly hefty buzz surrounding her live performances around the US, self-proclaimed “no-wave hard honk” artist Sarah Borges has signed to North Carolina-based Sugar Hill Records, and has announced plans to release her second LP later this year.

“I'm so happy to become a part of the Sugar Hill roster,” Borges said in a recent statement. “The band and I are excited to be introduced to folks who are already fans of Sugar Hill artists, and we're looking forward to bringing our brand of rock ‘n roll to the label’s vast catalog of exceptional music.”

Borges will soon return to the studio with producer Paul Q. Kolderie, who helmed her first release, 2005’s Silver City, (Blue Corn Records) and who has worked with artists such as Uncle Tupelo and Morphine.

Till then, Borges will hit the road with her longtime band, The Broken Singles, playing shows everywhere from Florida to Vancouver. In a recent statement, Borges said she hopes her first Sugar Hill release will feel like “a take-home version of our live show-- full of energy and heartfelt songs, with a nod to the music that's come before us and an eye on our indie rock heritage.”
