As originally reported by BBC News Online, author Kurt Vonnegut died Wednesday at the age of 84.
After suffering brain injuries following a fall in his Manhattan home several weeks ago, he never fully recovered, eventually dying from complications related to said fall.
The literary legend was best known for his post-WWII cynicism as conveyed through such cult classics as Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat's Cradle. Vonnegut is survived by his wife, photographer Jill Krementz, and seven children.
