An Oprah re-run featuring Lori McKenna will air today at 4 p.m. EST, during which the singer-songwriter talks about how her musical career, according to Oprah.com, “took off, thanks to a little ‘faith!’” Not the kind inspired by the Pope or late Jerry Falwell, mind you; credit apparently goes to country music’s Faith Hill, who used three of McKenna’s songs on her record, Fireflies.
From the Oprah site: Lori also shared that she often found inspiration for her songwriting from watching The Oprah Winfrey Show. “People would always constantly ask me: 'How do you write songs like this when you've been married since you were 19?'" says Lori. "And I would say, 'Oprah. I watch The Oprah Show and it inspires me.’"
Whoa. Contemplate other kinds of music daytime television might inspire. Or even better, daytime television commercials. Ballads about credit reports and litigation financing, anyone?
Why you might have any interest in watching Oprah: McKenna’s new album, Unglamorous, comes out on Warner Brothers Records August 14. Plus, be sure to check out a feature on McKenna in Paste’s August issue.
