In 2001, Toho Music Corporation filed a copyright complaint against rapper Pharoahe Monch for sampling its “Godzilla’s Theme” in his hit song, “Simon Says.” Subsequently, Monch’s debut album, Internal Affairs was pulled from shelves.
While no one really cares about seeing a follow-up to the abominable live-action Godzilla turd from ten years ago, Monch’s new album was released yesterday on URC/Universal Motown to gushingly positive reviews.
Called Desire, the new record features Showtyme, Tower of Power, Mela Machinko and Erykah Badu. Judging by this tongue-in-cheek video for Body Baby, he’ll be a blast to see live on the following dates:
