A crazy-huge lineup spanning various mediums and genres that don’t hang out enough has been announced for Seattle’s 37th annual Bumbershoot festival on Labor Day weekend. Wu-Tang Clan, The Shins, Devendra Banhart, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, the Avett Brothers, at least one Christian metalcore band and some group called Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head are among the 100+ artists holding down the music portion of the event. Fergie’s booked as well, sure to arrive with her legion of style-minions.
Bumbershoot’s comedy sector will be manned by the Stella trio, Janeane Garofalo, Eugene Mirman and others – plus, some kind of bonkers competition for Seattle-based performers called “Bumbershoot’s Got Talent!”
And then, AND THEN, for the literate folks rumored to congregate in Seattle, there are all kinds of “wordy” events; the Seattle Spelling Bee finale, the Davy and Peter Rothbart/FOUND Magaine show and stories from Jonathan Ames, Dan Savage and others.
Plus you’ve got Miranda July art farting it up, Seattle’s One Reel Film Festival, some kind of Led Zeppelin burlesque act, and etc. So much etcetera!
Presented by One Reel, in collaboration with Seattle Center and AEG Live, Bumbershoot offers three-day passes for $75 bucks until August 17, after which things naturally get pricier. Visit the links below for full details.
