Dispatch webcast sold-out reunion shows

Dispatch webcast sold-out reunion shows

The day tickets went on sale for three nights of Dispatch reunion shows at Madison Square Garden, the first performance sold out within 30 minutes. Only fans who had a specific half hour of free time in the middle of the day to fool around with Ticketmaster (taking breaks to storm around and gnash teeth over convenience charges) were able to secure places in a audience for a band whose “final” concert three years ago attracted 110,000 people.

Keeping that in mind, it is obvious entire legions of people, numerous enough to populate Liechtenstein several times over, would like to be attending this weekend’s reunion shows. And those who lack tickets are in luck – this Monday, after the concerts have come and gone – the official Dispatch MySpace will webcast the entire shindig. Not as good as the real thing, admittedly, but it’s one of technology’s positive sides, unlike sellouts that occur within the time frame of a Seinfeld rerun.

One of the upsides to three sold-out shows is that, as reported in Pastes 5th Anniversary Issue, all proceeds from the sales go to various charities fighting disease, famine and social injustice in Zimbabwe. Within hours after each concert, Dispatch will dispatch live recordings via its SNOCAP MyStore on MySpace, sales of which will presumably go to the same cause. So there’s a way to avoid any guilt about Monday’s free peek.
