Everybody, move your feet. Junior Senior, the campy Danish duo behind 2003’s utterly infectious D-D-Don't Stop the Beat, is back and they’re armed with a sort-of-kinda new record Hey Hey My My Yo Yo. You might remember them from this. The record will be released stateside on August 14 and features collaborations with Le Tigre’s JD, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson of the B-52's, Motown-famed Velvelettes and — no joke — Spooner Oldham. As in, Spooner Oldham, keyboardist for Neil Young. And Bob Dylan. And Janis freakin’ Joplin. All this shouldn’t be news to our readers in Japan (Ikaga desu ka); the record has been out over there since 2005. The Japanese get everything first!
A special edition version of the disc will come packaged with a seven-song EP, Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. The band has also released a new single “Can I Get Get Get,” which is already giving Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E.” a run for it’s money as the catchiest single of the year.
Junior Senior also can’t stop (won’t stop) touring and have lined up a series of dates for the month of August. Additional dates to be added.
August :
10 - New Orleans, La. @ Ryko Convention (Tipitina's Uptown)
11 - Boston, Mass. @ Middle East
13 - New York, N.Y. @ Highline Ballroom
15 - Los Angeles, Calif. @ Roxy
15 - San Francisco, Calif. @ Popscene
