Saratoga, California’s Montalvo Arts Center is gearing up for this year’s Songwriters Festival, where ten celebrated and up-and-coming solo artists will display the talents of their profession. Sponsored by KPIG-FM, whose logo is an overalls-clad swine giving a polite tip ‘o the hat, the event in its entirety goes down Aug. 26 in Garden Theatre.
Among the chosen ten are Robin Holcomb, Buddy Miller, Carrie Rodriguez and James McMurtry, who was lauded by Stephen King, of all people, as "The truest, fiercest songwriter of his generation.”
The folk and country stylings end at 8 p.m., so it should be a nice family affair with time for supper afterward.
