Monterey Jazz Fest Releases Book

Monterey Jazz Fest Releases Book

It’s hard to believe how long The Monterey Jazz Festival has been around. Since 1958, the festival has played host to legacy artists like Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gilespie, Louis Armstrong, Max Roach and Billie Holiday — just to name a few. Hell, The Monterey Jazz Festival has been around so long, it cut the umbilical cord when The Cool was born.

So to celebrate it’s 50 years of leaving no room for squares, the festival has put together The Art of Jazz: Monterey Jazz Festival / 50 Years, a book of posters, photographs, and other exclusive artwork for the festival. The book goes on sale on July 31 and is available for pre-order at The MJF’s website.

The coffee-table sized book is photography and artwork from Jerry Stoll, Tom Copi, Ron Hudson, Earl Newman, Judy Anderson, Ron Grauer, Harry Briggs, and many, many others. The book even sports a foreword by Clint Eastwood, a member of the MJF Board of Directors. So you’ve got to ask yourself, you feelin’ jazzy, punk?
