Son Volt LP promoted from iTunes to vinyl

Dust off ye old record players. An extended double LP version of Son Volt’s March release The Search—a version previously only found on iTunes—will be available on Transmit Sound/Legacy on July 31.

The new LP, Chant and Strum, will have 22 silhouette-free recordings from The Search’s studio sessions. Only 1,000 copies were pressed for this edition.

Son Volt formed after Uncle Tupelo split up over a decade ago. You might hear the band’s remake of the Beatles classic “Hello, Goodbye” for an ESPN commercial trumpeting David Spice/Beckham’s arrival to the LA Galaxy in the 197th attempt to make soccer cool.
